Forward Deployed Engineer

A Forward Deployed Engineer is how that answer survives contact with a real company. You’ll sit with our customers, connect their repos, CI, Jira and AI spend, tune the scoring and capitalization policy to how they actually work, and stay in the room until the numbers are ones their CTO and CFO will both sign. Part engineer, part consultant, entirely accountable for whether the deployment lands.
This is the highest-signal seat in the company. You see every gap between what we built and what the customer needed, and you have standing to fix it: file the PR, change the model, or tell the team the feature is wrong.
This role is on-site in San Francisco, USA, with travel to customer sites. You’ll work alongside our founding Account Executive on US deals and with the engineering team in Brno, Czechia across timezones.
What you'll do
- Own customer deployments end to end: integrations, data validation, first real report
- Connect and debug customer stacks: Git providers, CI, Jira or Linear, LLM spend sources
- Configure capitalization policy and scoring so CapEx and OpEx output survives an audit
- Run on-prem, air-gapped and self-hosted installs, and get through security review
- Sit in pilots as the technical owner, and turn a pilot into a signature
- Write the glue code, scripts and one-off integrations a deal needs to close
- Feed the field back into the roadmap, and ship fixes into the product yourself
What we're looking for
- 4+ years in engineering, solutions architecture or forward deployed roles
- Strong coding ability in TypeScript, Python or Go, with real debugging instincts
- Comfort in someone else's infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, cloud IAM, networking
- Data fluency: SQL, schema design, and enough statistics to defend a number
- You can hold a room of skeptical senior engineers and a room of finance people
- Based in San Francisco, on-site, and willing to travel to customer sites
- Bias to unblock the customer today and generalize the fix tomorrow
Nice to have
- Prior forward deployed, field engineering or solutions engineering experience
- Built with LLMs in production, including prompt and cost trade-offs
- Experience with software capitalization, IAS 38 or ASC 350-40
- Worked in regulated or air-gapped environments, or through enterprise procurement
- Familiarity with developer tooling, DORA metrics, or engineering analytics
We keep the team small and hire deliberately. Forward deployed work is where our product meets reality, so this role carries unusual autonomy: you decide what the customer needs, and you have the access and the mandate to build it.
